Born in Quito, Ecuador, surrounded by vinyls and Latin folklore, Cristian fell in love with music at the age of 6 when he began playing the piano. Influenced by his father and brother, he changed the piano for the acoustic guitar. As time went by, music became his way to deeply connect with himself. In 2014, he got his first scholarship, which led him to begin a career in architecture, but 2 years later, after a serious mental breakdown, he went back to pursue his true passion. He started studying Contemporary Music at “Universidad San Francisco de Quito”. At age 16, he became the bassist of the pop-rock band “Saudade” and performed with “La Voz Ecuador” winner Gutto Vicunha. Later on, he had his first encounter with Berklee College of Music. After earning the Berklee World Tour Scholarship in 2019, he finally got the chance he needed to prove himself. Now, he is also the recipient of various other scholarships such as the Berklee Global Partner Scholarship (2019), The Latin Grammy Cultural Foundation Tuition Assistance Scholarship (2020), and the 2020 Berklee Augmentation Grant.
Cristian is also the co-founder of VU Media Group, an organization that focuses on helping emerging artists create and build their musical careers. He is currently working on the release of the first single of his EP “Palabras”. Mixing the sounds of popular music and Latin folklore, Cristian offers a genuine and powerful source of inspiration. His soulful lyrics express a message of honesty, awareness, and the power of vulnerability. Through his art, he vows to be an advocate for mental health awareness.
